Friday 3rd & Sunday 5th

HCCC Good Friday Appeal

The Health and Community Chaplaincy Committee of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria does wonderful work in our community supporting those in need and supporting ministers and their families (see a video here). We ask you to consider making a donation on Good Friday.

    • Put some cash in the donation box.

    • Transfer to our church account with the description “HCCC 2026”.

CHILDREN’S & YOUTH PROGRAMS OVER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS (April 5th, 12th, 19th)

While our children’s and youth programs take a break over school holidays, it will be so good to have all ages in our church family together to worship God and to learn from his word. It will also give our volunteers a break.

  • School-aged children - There will be activity packs for children of all ages (from creche to ELOS), and all ages are welcome to remain in the service. Parents are responsible for supervising their children. Please do feel free to use the care room as well if that's helpful.

  • Preschool-aged children - We will still have volunteers so that creche and DPKinder kids can head to creche for some supervised fun if that would work better for them!

  • SPECIAL NOTE FOR GOOD FRIDAY - The creche space will not have volunteers but the space will be open for parents to supervise their own pre-school children.

Our Gospel Communities play a key role in helping people grow deep connections with God’s Word and God’s people so that DPC can continue to be a place where people meet Jesus and follow him together. • How to facilitate a study. Will cover understanding the purpose of a Bible passage and making the most of group dynamics.

Sermon Outline

EASTER SUNDAY
Mark 16:1-8

Clearing up Confusion

Faith in the resurrection of Jesus clears up confusion about life.

  1. When confusion leads to fear

  2. Confusion #1 – Who will move the stone? (1-5)

  3. Confusion #2 – Why is Jesus not here? (6-7)

  4. Confusion #3 – Why does Mark end with fear? (8)

    • Why verses 9-20 are probably not original to Mark

      1) Not in oldest copies of Mark

      2) Many old copies mark it as doubtful

      3) Unique vocabulary and style

      4) No mention of Jesus appearing in Galilee

      5) More of a summary of other parts of the New Testament

      6) Makes a troubling promise (vv17-18)

  5. Faith in the resurrection of Jesus clears up confusion

    • About Jesus’ death

    • About the hopes and challenges of this life
